2014 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
For more than forty years, our family has been proudly growing grapes in the Napa Valley. We fastidiously select just 2% of the fruit we grow for our own limited-production wines. This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon is a duet of our favorite two vineyards in the Yountville appellation. We selected our most critically acclaimed block at Flat Rock Ranch for its juicy and vibrant approachability; the remaining 30% of the blend represents the earthy, tannic structure of the fruit grown at Mast Ranch. Together, these vineyards possess a cross-section of geomorphic and microclimate idiosyncrasies poised to produce a Cabernet Sauvignon of approachable refinement.
Since our Napa Valley Cabernet was the first red wine that we produced in 1999, each vintage has occupied a warm place in our hearts. With its deep-purple-tinged ruby color and long-lasting legs, the Napa Cabernet has a bouquet of wild berries, cocoa, cassis, and toasted oak. The palate develops flavors of ripe plum, boysenberry, bittersweet chocolate, tobacco, and baking spice. The long, lingering finish has youthful tannins that keep you coming back for more. This wine would pair perfectly with a Cambozola cheese or a hardwood-grilled steak.
