Jack Mast was the third generation of his family to own and carefully tend the Mast Ranch; in his whole adult life, Jack spent only one night away from his beloved farmstead. Situated on the western side of the Yountville Appellation, the alluvial bench land of the Mayacamas Mountains imparts traits unique to this acclaimed terroir: gravelly soil interspersed with sand, loam, and clay; hillside irrigation, and cool bay winds that provide perfect temperate balance for Cabernet Sauvignon vines.
Tasting Notes
The dark magenta color introduces developing aromas of cherry preserves, sweet tobacco, boysenberry, juniper berry, and red licorice. The bold palate offers concentrated flavors of juicy blackberry, anise, vanilla, toasted hazelnuts, and tart red fruits that are complemented by a juicy mid-palate and a delightful finish. Pair with a filet mignon topped with a red wine reduction.
Drink 2023 - 2032.
