Description

Jack Mast was third generation of his family to own and carefully tend the Mast Ranch. In his whole adult life Jack spent only one night away from his beloved ranch. The spirit of this fine man lives on in the stewardship of the land. The vineyard is situated on the western side of the Yountville appellation in the benchland of the Mayacamas mountains. Hallmarks of this location are the gravelly soil, stellar climate, and good drainage that combine to create world class cabernet. The winemaking skills of Paul Hobbs, and his team, is the other important factor.

Tasting Notes

The fruit stems from one of the Laird’s most prestigious single vineyards located on the hillside of Yountville. Enticing aromas of currants, cassis, and tobacco accentuated by the dark ruby hues introduce a rich, voluptuous body. Flavors of dark fudge brownie, grapes, and cherries unravel on the palate finishing with strong tannins. This wine is a well-balanced medley, and definitively cellar worthy. Pair with savory winter offerings, such as steak with gorgonzola and roasted potatoes.
